PALMA DE MALLORCA

Are you searching for some last minute winter sun? Then head over to the island of Mallorca!

In front of the Cathedral of Santa María de Palma de Mallorca

If you're visiting Palma de Mallorca make sure you check out the following sites: the Llotja De Mallorca, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, the Banys Arabs de Palma, and of course Palma Cathedral.

The Llotja De Mallorca is a 15th Century gothic guild building which generally hosts art exhibitions. Admission is free and is open every day 10:30-13:30 & 17:30-23:00, except on Mondays. The Royal Palace of La Almudaina was once an Arabian fort, then a grand palace and is now a museum showcasing the transition from Muslim to Christian power on the island. The palace was the official residence of the Kings and Queens gone by during their stays in Mallorca, and it is is located just opposite the cathedral. Tickets to enter cost €4 and is open 10:00-18:00 apart from Mondays. The Banys Arabs is an Arab bathhouse in the old town of Palma, and is one of the few preserved examples of Moorish architecture in Mallorca. The splendid garden is full of cacti, palms, orange and lemon trees, and features many hammam baths and chambers. The baths are open Monday-Sunday, 10:00-18:00, and entry is €3.

And then we come onto the Cathedral, a landmark and monument of Palma de Mallorca. The Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, or more commonly referred to as La Seu, is a gothic cathedral designed by Antoni Gaudi, that lies in the heart of the capital and is a must see attraction. From my experience I recommend booking tickets to enter in advance; since the cathedral is only open daily 10:00-14:15, with these short opening times it can get quite busy. I don't usually talk about hotels during my blogs of my trips but I have to talk about this one: the Protur Naisa Palma Hotel.

The Protur Naisa Palma Hotel is a 4 star hotel located in the heart of the Balearic capital of Palma de Mallorca. The hotel itself features a restaurant, fitness centre, a bar & lounge, and offers free WiFi, private parking, and air-conditioned rooms with a flat screen TV and a private bathroom with a shower. Guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast and take advantage of the spa centre, rooftop pool and sauna. For 2 nights a standard double hotel room cost €250 - and I have to say the bed that this hotel offers is one of the best beds I have every slept in, it was super comfy!

On a final note, if you're looking for somewhere to eat I recommend these two places:

Bar Bosch

Plaça Rei Joan Carles I, 6, Bajos, 07012, Illes Balears, Palma de Mallorca

Tast Club

Carrer de Sant Jaume, 6, 07012, Illes Balears, Palma de Mallorca

This may have been my last trip of the year - to indulge in temperatures of 18°C in December certainly felt good!
