Here to stay only for a day? Follow me as I guide you around Mostar in Bosnia & Herzegovina in 24 hours...
The majority of people tend to come to Mostar only for a day trip, either from Dubrovnik or from Sarajevo, so it is quite easy to only spend a day here. Let me show you what you can get up to if you have just 24 hours...
Without a doubt the main attraction here is the Mostar Old Bridge. The Mostar Bridge, also known as Stari Most, is a 16th Century Ottoman bridge crossing the River Neretva and connects the two parts of the city, which is named after the bridge keepers (Mostari) who guarded the Stari Most during the Ottoman era. The bridge was destroyed in the Bosnian War but then later reconstructed to replicate the original. It is one of the main bridge used to cross the river in the city and is definitely the most popular. You can enjoy the views from the top, or even head down towards the river to see the bridge from below. In the summer time you may even find local diving off the bridge, something that has made this bridge quite famous..

Overlooking the town, stands Fortica or Stakleni vidikovac. A hike up here can take about 1 hour 30 minutes, and it is really important to stay on the paths provided (little did I know before that there were still landmines up on the hill since it was used as a frontline in the Bosnian War). The hike to the top takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes or so and it can be quite demanding at times. Nevertheless the view at the top is worth it! You will find a bar/restaurant where you can enjoy a local traditional beer, and admire the view as you strep out onto the glass walkway that extends out into the valley below...
Views from the top of the mountain, including a glass walkway looking over the town of Mostar (also a great place to enjoy a traditional local beer!)
Whilst you're here make sure you also check out: Kriva ćuprija (Little Star Most Bridge), Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, the Old Bazar market place, and the Museum of War & Genocide to learn more about its unique history.
Make sure you check out the Blagaj Tekke Monastery just 30 minutes south of the city, as well as some other attractions nearby in Bosnia & Herzegovina...
