The DJI Tello by Ryze: a small quadcopter, which features a Vision Positioning System and an onboard camera, incorporates both DJI and Intel's flight technologies.
The drone just flies with a WIFI enabled phone using the Vision Positioning System with downward sensors and images are electronically stabilised. There is no GPS but it is very intelligent as it works very much like a GPS guided drone.
The DJI Tello by Ryze comes with a battery which slides easily into the drone itself, a micro USB cable to charge the battery and a set of spare propellers and a removal tool incase you break any when you crash it ;)
Using the Vision Positioning System and advanced flight controller, it can hover in place and is suitable for flying indoors as well as outdoors. Advanced features like Bounce Mode, 8D Flips and EZ shots make using the Tello fun.
Flight Modes include:
360: Record a short video while spinning 360° in place
8D Flips: Slide on the screen to flip in up to 8 different directions
Up & Away: Record a short video while flying upward and backward
Circle: Record a short video while flying in a circle
Throw & Go: Toss the aircraft, and it will hover in place
Bounce: Automatically fly up and down within 0.5 and 1.2 metres of a flat surface below the aircraft
Connecting and setting up the device is super easy! Once the app is downloaded, launch the app and connect to the device through the WIFI settings. The drone is fully usable through the app either on a mobile or tablet device, there is also the option to purchase a game controller for easier flying if you so wish. Tello captures 5MP photos and streams 720p live video to the Tello app on a mobile device. The Tello app is available for both IOS and Android users. So the camera quality shoots 720p HD videos at 30 frames per second and takes 5MP photos which are all saved to your phone via the Tello app.
This small drone fits in the palm of your hand and weighs only 80 grams. However its durable design combined with DJI and Intel's flight technologies, ensure that you can always fly with confidence. The DJI Tello can land automatically by itself from any height or it has an additional feature where it can land on the palm of your hand.
Tello's high capacity battery offers a flight times of up to 13 minutes, giving it one of the longest flight times in the mini drone category. The Tello also has a range of 100m (328ft) and a max speed of 8 metres per second.
